This is a wooden Lion King coated with black and red lacquer. It is about 40 centimeters high. It’s in the collection of the National Museum. However, its origin and date of creation remain unclear. This creature was adapted from an ancient mythological story.

At the museum, this object is displayed in a glass cabinet, along with craft tools and other creatures such as a monkey holding a jar, a burrowing’s toad, and a tool cylinder. The burrowing’s toad and jar were designed to store black ink. The cylinder was used for keeping a ruler, which indicates that Khmer artists had already developed the habit of using good tools in their craft. The monkey figure was made in the 20th century
